    DOCTOR WHO
BATTLES IN TIME: DALEK INVASION, AND THE DALEK CHALLENGE

You've made Dalek Invasion a hit. To say thank you, we've set a challenge for serious Doctor Who fans, with a Brass Dalek as the prize.

    Dalek Invasion: thank you

When pre-orders for Dalek Invasion opened at the end of September, we hoped the Daleks would draw a crowd. We didn't expect quite how quickly you'd answer the call. The response has been brilliant, and it's another sign of how much Battles in Time still means to collectors twenty years after the cards first appeared.

If you haven't ordered yet, the Limited Edition Binder (exclusive to us, and limited to 1,000 worldwide), the Booster and the Case of Six Boosters are all available to pre-order now, and start shipping in early December.

    The Daleks are coming!

The next Doctor Who Battles in Time set features the Doctor's greatest foes: the Daleks. We've been working flat out to make sure that this is the most comprehensive set of Daleks you can imagine. There are 142 cards in the all-new Dalek Invasion to collect, with Daleks from every story, starting with the original Daleks in their city on Skaro right through to the Dalek Security drones and the Dalek Executioner that was sent to kill the Doctor during the Flux. We worked with noted Dalek expert Gavin Rymill to get the list right. Together we came up with so many that we'd challenge anyone to name them all.

In fact, we're going to put that to the test. If you can name all five, then you're in with a chance to win a fantastic Brass Dalek, worth £499.99, along with an uncut sheet of Dalek Invasion cards that you won't find anywhere else.

    Dalek Challenge Competition >>

Final card art, and the Vortex Metal cards

A few of the card designs we previewed earlier in the year have since been refined, so here are the finished versions. We're also giving you a proper look at the two Vortex Metal cards (one Gold, one Silver). They're the rarest pulls in the set, turning up roughly once in every 720 packs.

    DOCTOR WHO DAY
AND A BUSY MONTH IN THE WHONIVERSE

Monday 23rd November is the show's 63rd birthday. Here's how it's being celebrated, and what's been happening off screen.

The Tenth Doctor returns to the big screen

For one night only on Monday 23rd November, one of the best-loved two-parters of the Tennant years is heading to cinemas. The two episodes, The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit, are now one feature-length cut, with scenes that were dropped from the original broadcast put back in and footage that has never been shown before. Screenings run in more than 1,000 cinemas across the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and include a new interview with director James Strong.

Twenty years after David Tennant and Billie Piper's first full series together, it's hard to think of a better way to spend the evening. The Ood are scary enough on a television. On a cinema screen they'll be something else.

    What's next for the show

There's been plenty of Doctor Who news behind the scenes. The BBC is running a competitive tender to find the production company that will make the next series. Bids went in at the start of October, shortlisted companies will be interviewed in January, and the BBC expects to announce the winner in March 2027, with new episodes aimed at 2028 or 2029. The BBC keeps ownership of the show throughout. Several companies have been reported as bidding, BBC Studios among them, but the full list hasn't been made public and we won't guess.

Meanwhile, the youngest viewers are getting a Doctor Who of their own. Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew is a new animated series for pre-schoolers, made by Blue Zoo for CBeebies and BBC iPlayer. There are 52 episodes of 11 minutes each on the way, due from late 2027 into early 2028. And yes, the Daleks are in it.

    For our US community

Doctor Who fans in the US: AMC is running a Doctor Who rewatch, so it’s the perfect time to revisit your favourite adventures. Find out more on AMC.

DOCTOR WHO 1/6 SCALE DOCTORS: WHERE THINGS STAND

An honest update on timings, and the latest pictures from the factory

We promised a fuller update on our 1/6 scale figures, so here it is. These are some of the most detailed pieces we've ever made, and getting the tailoring, the likenesses and the finish right has taken longer than we planned. Our last estimate was October, and that date has slipped.

    • Second Doctor: shipping before the end of the year, sent directly from the factory so it reaches you sooner.
    • The Master, Fourth Doctor, Signed Fourth Doctor and Twelfth Doctor: now expected in Spring 2027.

If you've pre-ordered, look out for an email from us with the details, including a thank-you for your patience. Every figure will also come with an exclusive Battles in Time card made just for this range. And to show you how far they've come, here's the latest from the production line.

BLADE RUNNER 2099: THE TRAILER, AND A NIGHT AT NYCC

Our first real look at the new series, and a memory or two that didn't belong to anyone.

New York Comic Con on 10 October brought the first full trailer for Blade Runner 2099. The series jumps half a century on from Blade Runner 2049 to a Los Angeles where the balance of power has flipped: replicants are in charge, and humans are the ones on the margins. Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive hiding in plain sight as a Blade Runner, and Michelle Yeoh plays Olwen, a replicant whose time is running out. All eight episodes land on Prime Video on Wednesday 25th November.

After the panel, VIPs and influencers were treated to a replicant experience of their own at a special evening event. Guests got up close to props from the series, a Spinner among them, before going through a replicant memory implant experience that dropped them straight into the world of Blade Runner.

    STARGATE PROGRESS!

The gate has a habit of reopening.

Variety has reported that Amazon MGM have appointed producer Jac Schaeffer to develop a new Stargate TV show. At this point, details are scarce, but we know that this will be a different take to the one that was being developed earlier this year. Schaeffer has an impressive track record: she was the head writer on Marvel's WandaVision TV series, which was nominated for Hugo and Emmy awards. At the moment this is all anybody knows, but for our money it shows that Amazon MGM are serious about bringing Stargate back, which has to be good news.

And while we wait, our own fleet keeps growing. The Asgard ship O'Neill has just joined our Stargate SG-1 range and is available to pre-order now, shipping in March 2027. The Tel'tak isn't far behind (see Sneak Peeks).

STAR TREK: NYCC, A GORN HEAD AND STARFLEET ACADEMY

Sixty years on, the fans in the room still brought the biggest cheer.

The best collecting moment of New York Comic Con came on Saturday 10th October, at the Star Trek Universe panel. Ben Stiller, a fan for as long as he can remember and a serious collector, sat down with William Shatner to look back over six decades of the show. Then he pulled the cover off a box on stage to show what he'd brought along: the actual Gorn head worn in the classic 1967 episode "Arena". He also owns one of Kirk's tunics, which Shatner was quick to point out is more than he can say for himself.

We know a few of you who would have given a great deal to be on that stage.

There was news for the newer crews too. The second and final season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy arrives on Paramount+ in March 2027, with Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt joining the cast. The exact date hasn't been announced yet.

    Landing soon

There are no new Star Trek launches from us this month, but there's a lot of stock on its way. If you've been waiting on any of these, they'll be with you soon.

Blade Runner 2099: the first full trailer, plus the replicant experience (see above).

MCM London Comic Con: 23 to 25 October, ExCeL London

London's biggest pop culture weekend sold out all three days at ExCeL. Highlights included Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio and Wilson Bethel on stage for Daredevil, Critical Role opening the show, a first look at the new Witcher 3 expansion, and Bandai Namco celebrating 50 years of Gundam.

This October has been a hard month for Star Trek fans with the deaths of both Sir Patrick Stewart and Walter Koenig.

    PATRICK STEWART
    1940–2026

It’s almost impossible to overstate Sir Patrick Stewart’s importance to Star Trek. His portrayal of Captain Picard anchored the show’s return in 1987 and redefined Star Trek for a new generation of fans. He brought intelligence, honesty and a powerful sense of morality to the role that made Picard the best amongst equals. That’s all the more impressive because Patrick Stewart wasn’t an obvious choice. When he was cast in 1987, he was famously described as an “unknown British Shakespearean actor”. Gene Roddenberry had originally envisaged Picard as a very different kind of man, but Stewart’s auditions were so impressive that Roddenberry and Paramount decided to go with a bald, 47-year-old actor with no profile in America. His performance was so commanding that there was no doubt that he was the captain.

Once cast, he brought seriousness and commitment to the part, treating it with the same respect he would any Shakespearean role. At first, he found the rest of the cast’s more loose approach frustrating, but soon relaxed himself to become one of the funniest members on set and absolutely beloved by his castmates. He took great efforts to protect Picard’s character, giving notes on story and his background. All of that played a massive role in making Star Trek: The Next Generation into a phenomenal hit, and its success made all the shows that followed possible.

The role of Picard showed the world what Patrick Stewart was capable of and made him into a star. As well as portraying Picard, he took on the role of Professor Xavier in the X- Men movies, but more than anything he used his fame to explore great stage roles, where he earned rave reviews. His great friend Sir Ian McKellen described him as “the most respected and beloved actor of his generation”.

His beautiful, resonant voice will echo in our heads forever. His influence is immeasurable. There is no doubt the world is a poorer place without him.

    WALTER KOENIG
    1936–2026

We’re sad to report the death of Walter Koenig at the age of 90. Koenig was of course famous for playing Star Trek’s Pavel Chekov, but was also well known to genre fans as Babylon 5’s villainous Bester.

The character of Chekov was introduced in Star Trek’s second season and was designed to attract younger viewers. It was inspired by Davy Jones from The Monkees, who was one of the most popular people on television at the time. Koenig even started out wearing a “mop top” wig until his own hair could grow out. In a very Star Trek twist, the character was made Russian, promising that humanity would resolve its differences. Koenig brought a charm and humor to Chekov that made him a firm favorite with the fans.

Chekov didn’t return for the animated series but Koenig did, writing the episode “The Infinite Vulcan”, making him the first cast member to script an episode.

Koenig returned to feature in all six original cast movies, playing a particularly big and memorable role in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. He wrote two books about his experiences, Chekov’s Enterprise and Warped Factors. Then in the 90s he played Bester in a dozen episodes of Babylon 5. His final Star Trek appearance was in the Star Trek: Picard finale, when he provided voice for the Federation President, Anton Chekov, the son of his original character. We will always remember Koenig as a thoughtful and kind man, who made an enormous contribution to Star Trek. He will be much missed.

    AT THE CINEMA

Narnia: The Magician's Nephew New trailer is excellent

Greta Gerwig's return to the wardrobe (or rather, to the story that comes before it) showed its first trailer on 13th October, and the soundtrack choice of Led Zeppelin raised a few eyebrows in the best way. Daniel Craig plays Uncle Andrew and Meryl Streep voices Aslan. Netflix is giving it a proper cinema run, IMAX included, from 12th February 2027, before it reaches the streaming service on 2nd April.

    A note on Zavvi

We're sorry to see Zavvi close its doors this month. They stocked Master Replicas products for many years. Most of what Zavvi carried from our range can still be ordered directly from us at masterreplicas.com, although a few items have sadly sold out and we won't be able to supply those. We're talking to a new online retail partner and hope to have that in place in the new year.

Orders placed directly with Master Replicas aren't affected in any way and will ship as normal. And keep watching, because we've got some exciting news lined up for 2027.

Any questions about an order with us? Email info@masterreplicas.com and Bernie will be glad to help.

    Shipping your orders

Split shipment at checkout is still on our list. Until it's live, orders ship once everything in them is in stock. If you'd like an order sent in parts, email info@masterreplicas.com and Bernie will sort it out (extra postage may apply).

    THANK YOU

Thanks for reading this month's Community Update. With the Dalek Challenge open, Doctor Who Day around the corner and Black Friday on the way, November is going to be a busy one, and we're glad you're here for it.
