In 2401, other Inquiry-class ships were sent to confront the Borg when an anomaly appeared on the edge of Federation space and to celebrate Frontier Day. The U.S.S. Buran was a 23rd-century Cardenas-class starship that was commanded by Captain Lorca. During the early months of the Federation-Klingon war it was involved in a transporter accident that brought the Mirror version of Lorca to the Prime Universe. Another Cardenas-class ship, the U.S.S. Yeager NCC-1347 fought at the Battle at the Binary Stars.
