The Daedalus class is a missing piece of Starfleet history. The original series referred to several ships from the past, which we never saw including the U.S.S. Horizon and the U.S.S. Esssex. Legendary modelmaker Greg Jein made a model of the Daedalus class for the book the STAR TREK: Chronology. It was then used in Ben Sisko's office on Deep Space 9.  The model is 5.5" (14 cm) long.
