STARGATE — KEEPING THE GATE OPEN
Our biggest Stargate month of the year kicks off, with the ZPM in flight, the Jaffa line growing, and a proper conversation opening about where we take the range next.
Stargate has always mattered to us. And this month, it matters more than usual. Between now and the end of the year, our Stargate range grows in every direction — new desktop replicas, new ships, and a proper illuminated ZPM landing in September. This piece pulls it all together, and — for the first time — opens the door to hearing from you about what we make next.
How to get into Stargate (if you have not, yet)
First a note for anyone reading this who has been quietly meaning to try Stargate for years but never quite got around to it. Do it now. Start with the 1994 film if you like your sci-fi with a cinema-scale entry point; go straight to Stargate SG-1 Season 1 if you would rather dive into the TV series that defined the franchise for a decade. From there, Atlantis is where a lot of the collector devotion sits, and Universe is where the show pushed its most ambitious storytelling. All are on major streaming platforms now.
There is a lot to love here — and if you are a Master Replicas collector who has been eyeing our Stargate ships from the sidelines without ever having watched the show, this is your nudge. The shelf feels different when you have seen where the pieces come from.
STARGATE WEEK — IT ALL KICKS OFF MONDAY
If you have been reading this week, you will know something is coming.
Monday 27th July 2026 is Stargate Day, and we are marking it with two things at once. A new desktop replica we have been keeping under wraps — the clues are out there if you have been paying attention — and something for everyone building out their collection.
Here is the part worth knowing now: from Monday, the more you spend across Stargate, the more you get back. Store credit, straight onto your account, to spend on whatever you like once the dust settles. We will spell out exactly how it works when the gate opens.

Coming soon — the ZPM in the flesh (well, in the resin)
The Light-Up ZPM Replica arrives in September. It is the Atlantis showpiece we have been quietly perfecting for over a year, and the one collectors have been asking about since we first showed the sample on Dial the Gate back in March. This month, we are able to share a first look at the working piece with the lights on.
Speaking of the ZPM — our Creative Director Ben Robinson dropped by Dial the Gate this Wednesday to give the fan community a good look at the Serpent Guard (Apophis) Jaffa helmet, show off a powered-up ZPM and tease some future Stargate releases. The conversation spilled over into a bit of Star Trek too. Full video below.
The ships we are working on
Alongside the ZPM, our Stargate ships roster continues to grow. Some of you have been asking for specific vessels for years. We are quietly working on more of them than we can share right now — but the direction is clear: if you love the fleet, the fleet is getting bigger.

BATTLES IN TIME — JULY'S OBLITERATOR OPENS UP, SECOND DOCTOR PRESALE OPENS IN AUGUST
A busy July for Battles in Time — Obliterator opens up to more collectors, Retroduction comes back in stock, and presale opens in August on the Second Doctor Set.
July is a wider-access month for Battles in Time. The Obliterator 5-Pack Limited launched in direct response to community feedback on price accessibility, and — when the Limited Edition Obliterator sold out — the Obliterator Unlimited Edition opened up (with a brand-new limited-edition Collector Binder) so more of you could get hold of the cards. And the Retroduction set is back in stock after selling out first time round.
Looking ahead: presale opens in August on the Second Doctor Limited Edition Set — Patrick Troughton's era, with Jamie, Zoe and Victoria as companions and monsters from Cybermen to the Great Intelligence. Following the First Doctor Set in June, it continues the launch-a-month rhythm the range now runs on.
Retroduction — back in stock, shipping now
Speaking of the Retroduction set — the second shipment has landed, the cards are back on the shelf, and orders are shipping out to customers right now. If you missed the first drop back in May, this is your window.
The George Clarke moment
Influencer and Strictly contestant George Clarke is a huge Doctor Who fan, and has a pretty good collection of Battles in Time cards. With a little help from the BBC, we were able to do something a little special for him — and it is safe to say he was pleased and surprised.

STAR TREK — 60 YEARS, AND JUST GETTING STARTED
A packed month for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is back, the 60th anniversary hits Hall H at Comic-Con, and a set that has been quietly hosting fans in upstate New York for two decades gets its moment.
Strange New Worlds Season 4 is back
Star Trek™: Strange New Worlds Season 4 premiered on Paramount+ on Thursday 23 July 2026 with a two-episode drop, and continues weekly through 24 September. By the time you are reading this, the first two episodes are out in the wild.
What the cast are saying
The pre-premiere buzz from the cast themselves has been striking. Rebecca Romijn (Number One), speaking at CCXP Mexico, called "seasons 4 and 5 the two best" work the show has done. Celia Rose Gooding (Uhura) described this season as having "final boss energy — we're going to the farthest extreme of the strangeness and the newness." The trailer, released last month, has been overwhelmingly well received across fan communities.
About that dinosaur episode…
The premiere leans into what may be the most talked-about single image of the season: an actual Jurassic-sized dinosaur on a 23rd-century starship. Director Chris Fisher filmed the sequence on a virtual production volume with all effects in-camera and zero post-VFX — and, delightfully, an actual puppet from Jurassic Park was used during filming, complete with a hand-to-hand fight scene between one of the crew and the puppet itself. The landing party facing the threat: Number One, La'an and Ortegas.
What we are watching for
As the season unfolds through the summer, the big narrative question is how far this run pushes Spock and Kirk toward the versions we know from The Original Series — and how much room the show leaves for the 60th anniversary celebrations happening around it (see below).
Three specific things worth keeping an eye on across the season:
- Ortegas's arc. Melissa Navia's helm officer has quietly become one of the show's most-loved characters. Season 3 gave her real space to grow; Season 4 looks set to push her further, with her landing party role in the premiere already hinting at bigger things.
- Tone. The season has been explicitly positioned as a return to the tonal middle ground between the deep character work of the early episodes and the lighter musical / comedy detours of Season 3. Fan discussion after the premiere will centre almost entirely on whether that lands.
- 60th anniversary callbacks. With cast members from across the entire Star Trek franchise appearing at SDCC's 60th anniversary panel this weekend, the temptation to bring in a couple of familiar faces on-screen must be enormous. Watch the guest star credits.
Reactions — landing across the week
Episodes 1 and 2 premiere the day this newsletter goes out. Expect the first serious reviews to land Thursday evening across TrekMovie, ScreenRant, CBR and Redshirts Always Die, plus the broader Star Trek social conversation.
The Star Trek 60th at San Diego Comic-Con
As you read this, Star Trek's 60th anniversary is being celebrated in Hall H at Comic-Con. Following the Strange New Worlds Season 4 panel at 12:30 PM Saturday, the 60th Anniversary panel brings together voices from across the entire franchise — with George Takei, Michael Dorn, Robert Picardo, Connor Trinneer, Cirroc Lofton, Doug Jones, Michelle Hurd, Karim Diané and Christina Chong, and a special introduction from Rod Roddenberry.
Also making its first public appearance at the Paramount+ Lodge: the recovered 33-inch original Starship Enterprise filming model built in 1965. It has spent decades in various states of preservation. Seeing it out again — in Star Trek's 60th anniversary year — is exactly the kind of moment this anniversary was made for.
Magic: The Gathering — Star Trek arrives in November
One more for the 60th anniversary shelf: Wizards of the Coast have confirmed that Magic: The Gathering — Star Trek — the Universes Beyond set built around the entire franchise — releases on 13 November 2026, with prerelease events from 6 November. The set covers everything from The Original Series through to Strange New Worlds, timed as part of Trek's 60th anniversary celebrations.
Four Commander precons launch alongside the set: Federation Fleet (Picard and Janeway-era starships), Landing Party (Original Series away teams), Klingon Fury (Warrior combat), and We Are the Borg (built around a new Assimilate mechanic). New mechanics include Spacecraft, Stationing, Assimilate, Face a Dilemma and Federation.
For our community: if you collect across Star Trek, this is the kind of tie-in worth having on the radar early — prereleases sell through fast, and the Universes Beyond sets have a strong track record of shifting quickly on release week.

Our Light-Up Panel range has quietly become one of the most-loved corners of the Master Replicas Star Trek line. The newest addition is the biggest and most impressive we have produced: the U.S.S. Cerritos Light-Up MSD Okudagram Panel — the Master Systems Display of the California-class starship at the heart of Star Trek: Lower Decks — is now open for presale on the Master Replicas website, shipping December 2026.
Switched off, it is a striking piece of Star Trek art. Switched on, it glows to life just like the displays on screen — using the same backlit film technology that powered the MSDs of The Next Generation.
The artwork — by Mike Okuda himself
The panel uses artwork created for Lower Decks by legendary Star Trek scenic artist Mike Okuda — densely labelled, screen-used, packed with ship detail. The MSD shows the Cerritos from starboard, above, front and back, with the key systems called out: warp core, impulse reactors, shuttlebay, phaser arrays and navigational deflector.
And, delightfully, the panel is packed with easter eggs for the sharp-eyed: the location of Cetacean Ops, and the highly-classified Rubber Ducky Room among them. Lower Decks fans will find things to spot every time they walk past the wall.
Why the Cerritos, why now
The Cerritos has become one of the most-loved modern Star Trek ships — a working vessel with a working crew, doing the deeply unglamorous Second Contact missions that keep the Federation running. With Lower Decks having wrapped its beloved run, the Cerritos MSD lands at exactly the moment fans are actively looking for the right way to keep the ship in their lives.
And, more prosaically: at 80 × 45 cm, this is a genuinely substantial display piece — the kind of collectible that anchors a wall rather than sitting quietly beside it.

Speaking of Ben's month on the podcast circuit — he also joined The Trek Files podcast this week. The conversation this time was wider-ranging than product-focused, but Ben will be back on a future episode to dig into what we are working on across the Star Trek range. WHAT WE HEARD FROM SAN DIEGO
A note on timing before we begin: this newsletter was prepped Thursday 23 July 2026 for Saturday 25 July 2026 send. San Diego Comic-Con opens Thursday and runs through Sunday — so between the moment this piece was finalised and the moment it lands in your inbox, a considerable amount of news will drop that we simply cannot include here. Marvel Hall H (Saturday, 5:30pm PT), the Star Trek 60th anniversary panel (Saturday, 12:30pm PT) and the Prime Video Blade Runner 2099 panel (Friday morning) are the three biggest of those. We will cover them all — properly — in next month's newsletter.
In the meantime, here is what is already confirmed and on the ground in San Diego at time of writing.
Star Trek - a 60th anniversary weekend
The 60th anniversary panel lands Saturday 25 July, 12:30pm PT in Hall H, immediately following Strange New Worlds Season 4. Confirmed on stage: George Takei, Michael Dorn, Robert Picardo, Connor Trinneer, Cirroc Lofton, Doug Jones, Michelle Hurd, Jerry O'Connell, Christina Chong and Karim Diané, with an introduction from Rod Roddenberry.
Also worth flagging: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 went live globally today (Thursday 23 July) on Paramount+, and a free public screening of Episodes 1 and 2 ("Valles Marineris" and "Griffin Incident") plays the Balboa Theatre Friday 24 July, 7pm PT.
The recovered 33" USS Enterprise model — public, at last
The single most important Star Trek artefact on the ground this year: the original 33-inch USS Enterprise miniature built for the 1965 pilot The Cage. Lost for 45 years, recovered from a storage unit in 2023, authenticated via Heritage Auctions and returned to Rod Roddenberry in April 2024, it has been undergoing careful preservation ever since. This weekend is its first public appearance.
It is on display at the Paramount+ Lodge — an off-site activation at Happy Does, 340 Fifth Ave, running Wednesday 22 through Sunday 26 July. No SDCC badge required. If you are anywhere near San Diego this weekend, this is the one to see.
The Star Trek Collector Frontier panel
Thursday 23 July, 11am–12pm PT, Room 5AB. Paramount Consumer Products in conversation with LEGO and Wizards of the Coast (the latter fresh off their Universes Beyond Magic: The Gathering — Star Trek announcement — see above) about the current wave of Trek collector product. Master Replicas is not on the panel, but the conversation is very much in our neighbourhood, and we will be listening.
LEGO didn't wait for the panel — the Enterprise bridge in brick
On Preview Night itself, LEGO unveiled the LEGO Icons Star Trek Enterprise Bridge (set 11385) — a 1,701-piece recreation of the starship bridge and transporter room, with eight crew minifigures, a dial that “beams” them aboard, working turbolift doors and a rocking captain's chair. Priced at $199.99, pre-orders are open now, shipping 1st September 2026. At 1,701 pieces, either a happy coincidence or a very deliberate one.
Marvel and Avengers: Doomsday — waiting for Hall H
Marvel Studios return to Hall H on Saturday 25 July, 5:30pm PT — their first Hall H panel since 2024 (Marvel sat out SDCC 2025). The full Doomsday trailer dropped online on 20th July ahead of the panel, giving fans their first proper in-character look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom — the unrecognisable Eastern European accent has lit up social media in the days since. The Hall H panel itself will land after our send, but expect a full cast reveal and, likely, exclusive footage kept in-room. We will pick it up next month.
The floor did give us something, though. The Marvel booth opened Preview Night with the film's costumes on display — including a first, unannounced look at a “Latverian Witch” costume that clearly nods to Doom's corner of the map — and, as the centrepiece, the first detailed reveal of the film's X-Men Sentinel: a decapitated Sentinel head redesigned to sit closer to the comics and the X-Men '97 animated series than the Days of Future Past movie version, alongside a Xavier's School photo op. Genuine pre-Hall-H red meat for the X-fans.
Blade Runner 2099 — Prime Video's Hall H moment
Prime Video's Hall H slot is Friday 24 July, 10am PT (shared with Rings of Power Season 3). Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer are expected on stage together publicly for the first time — a series-defining moment ahead of the 2027 Prime Video launch, with Ridley Scott executive producing and Silka Luisa as creator. First public appearance for the cast since production wrapped December 2024. (More in this issue's Community Feature, below, on our own Blade Runner Spinner.)
For newcomers, the shape of it is now clear: Yeoh plays a Replicant engineered to die on a fixed schedule; Schafer a fugitive who survives by rebuilding her identity, with the series set fifty years on from Blade Runner 2049. Friday's Hall H slot is the first proper look at any of it — and the start of the show's marketing run.
Apple TV+ makes its Hall H debut
Saturday 25 July, 2–4pm PT, Apple TV+ takes Hall H for the first time ever. Sci-fi-relevant titles on the slate: Silo (Season 3 currently airing), Dark Matter, Widow's Bay, Mayday and the surprise addition — the live-action Matchbox movie. Notable absence: Foundation.
Stargate — the fans show up
Closer to home for this issue: Stargate has a real presence in San Diego this year — though not the one anyone hoped for. After Amazon MGM cancelled Martin Gero's planned revival earlier this summer, the grassroots #SaveStargate campaign has brought the fight to Comic-Con: a banner flyover over the convention centre on Friday (24 July, 11am–1pm PT) and a specially-written Stargate 5e tabletop RPG session on Saturday. There's a reunion on the schedule too — a Stargate SG-1 panel Friday lunchtime with Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge, plus a Stargate: Atlantis panel the same day. Whatever happens with the revival, the Gate community is doing what it always does: turning up. (More on our own Stargate month in the lead feature above.)
Elsewhere on the floor
A few of the non-panel pieces worth mentioning:
• Hasbro's Marvel Legends SDCC exclusive is an X-Men '97 Professor Xavier figure with hoverchair, packaged in a nostalgia-heavy VCR-deck box ($49.99). A Spider-Man / Electro / Lizard retro three-pack also drops for the show.
• Factory Entertainment (Booth #2743) has Battlestar Galactica 3.75" figures and a Colonial Viper insignia patch set among its exclusives.
• Warner Bros. has no post-Hall-H film panel this year, which means Dune Part Three will not get a dedicated SDCC moment. Any news there will come later in the autumn.
• The Whoniverse is carried mostly by fans and licensees this year — the returning “Future of Doctor Who” panel runs Thursday (3pm, Omni Hotel) with no BBC showrunners on the ground, while Titan and 52 Toys bring exclusive Doctor Who merch and a new 1/12-scale figure range. One for our Battles in Time readers to keep half an eye on.

You may remember from the March newsletter — photographer Mark Walker (@markwalkerphoto) turned his lens on the Master Replicas Blade Runner Spinner and delivered some of the most atmospheric, neon-soaked shots we have seen of any of our pieces. With Blade Runner 2099 already starting to make announcements ahead of its Prime Video launch — and a proper Comic-Con panel Friday 24 July — we thought this the right moment to bring those images back for anyone who missed them the first time round.

Stargate
More ships on the way Beyond the Stargate Week reveal covered in the lead feature above, our Stargate community has been asking for more ships. Without naming names, more are on the way across the second half of 2026 and into 2027. Watch this space.

Doctor Who
Battles in Time — Second Doctor Set + a whole new theme in the works. As covered above — presale opens in August on the Second Doctor Set. And behind the scenes, we are working on a whole new Battles in Time theme built around some of the franchise's most-loved foes. We are not saying what yet. But if you have been asking for a set focused on classic villains, keep watching.
Star Trek
Light-Up Panels and Desk Mats — expanding the range. Our Light-Up Panels have quietly become one of our most-beloved product lines. We are extending the range with more Star Trek panels on the way, plus expanding into other properties across the Master Replicas portfolio. A companion range of desk mats is also in development. More on both later in the year as products firm up.
Mass Effect
Geth Dreadnought (and more coming for N7 Day) The Mass Effect Geth Dreadnought is one of the most striking ships in the range, and it is on the way. Alongside it, some exciting new launches are being worked on in time for N7 Day (7 November) — the annual celebration for Mass Effect fans.
NEW LICENCES ON THE HORIZON
Three new properties joining the Master Replicas family — with product in development for 2027 and beyond.
Alongside our new Buffy the Vampire Slayer licence announced last month, we have been quietly signing more properties across the year, and are pleased to be able to name three of them publicly for the first time this month:
What excites us about all three is the chance to bring the same collector-first approach we take to Star Trek, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who — the deep reference work, the hand-finishing, the obsession with details most people will not notice but the ones who do will never forget — to fanbases that have been waiting a long time for someone to do their favourite show properly on a shelf.
Lost
Twenty years on from the first Oceanic 815 broadcast, Lost remains one of the most argued-over, obsessed-over shows in television history. There is real appetite for Lost collectibles — the DHARMA insignia, the Numbers, the hatch, the Others' props — and we are excited to bring proper craft to a fanbase that has waited a long time for it.
Futurama
One of the smartest, sharpest, weirdest animated shows of the last three decades — and a franchise with a design language that has always felt custom-built for collectibles. We are excited to start exploring what Futurama looks like on a Master Replicas shelf.
Thunderbirds — expanding the Gerry Anderson family
Alongside our growing Space: 1999 and UFO ranges, we are delighted to add Thunderbirds to the Gerry Anderson family. Sixty years after F.A.B. entered the language, few properties are more instantly recognisable — and few give us more scope for the kind of hand-crafted, model-first work that Master Replicas exists to do. More to come on the Thunderbirds range as products progress.

DIARY DATES
Four dates for the sci-fi calendar between now and September.
27 July — Stargate Day. The annual fan-organised celebration of everything Stargate. This year we are running a special Stargate Day event across our range (see the Stargate feature above), plus opening the wish-list survey to help shape what we make next.
5-9 August — STLV: Trek to Vegas 60th Anniversary at the Rio Hotel, Las Vegas. Creation Entertainment's flagship Star Trek convention celebrates 60 years of the franchise across five days, each themed to a different era of Trek. Ben Robinson and Liz Kloczkowski will be there for Master Replicas — say hello if you spot them.
8 September — Star Trek Day. Sixty years to the day since The Original Series first aired on NBC. Expect Star Trek to be everywhere — and a proper 60th anniversary moment across the franchise.
19 September — Batman Day. DC's annual Caped Crusader celebration, falling this year on a Saturday. Good excuse to rewatch anything from The Dark Knight to Matt Reeves' The Batman ahead of The Batman Part II.
21 October — Back to the Future Day. A tradition since the day Marty and Doc travelled to in Part II — this year with the added weight of the film's continuing 40th-anniversary momentum.
7 November — N7 Day. The annual celebration for Mass Effect fans (see the Sneak Peeks section for what we are working on for this year's N7 Day).
A QUIET MILESTONE — 10,000 ORDERS
A small piece of news that means a lot to us.
This month, we received a Shopify Award marking a milestone we did not entirely expect to reach this year: 10,000 orders since the relaunch of Master Replicas, dated 30 April 2026.
That number is not about us. It is about the collectors who pre-ordered ships from renders. The fans who stuck with us through the delivery delays we have been open about all year. The community that keeps telling us what to make next, and — remarkably — keeps coming back.

NOW STREAMING — WHAT'S ON, AND WHAT'S COMING
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 — streaming now on Paramount+ (first two episodes dropped 23 July, weekly thereafter through 24 September). More on this in the Star Trek section above.
Silo Season 3 — Apple TV+, streaming weekly from 3 July through 4 September. If you were saving it up, now is the time.
Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker — the multi-platform Whoniverse event that launched its first chapter on 25 June continues to unfold across the UNIT website. Jo Martin's Fugitive Doctor with Osgood and Martha Jones; well worth checking back in on if you missed the first drop.
Project Hail Mary — now available on MGM+ (since 18 June), following a theatrical run that crossed $680 million worldwide. Worth watching or rewatching now that it is available at home; it is one of the most enjoyable hard-sci-fi films of the year.

Lanterns — HBO Max, arriving August 2026. DC's big Green Lantern TV series, executive-produced by Chris Mundy and Damon Lindelof, is one of the most-anticipated superhero-sci-fi shows of the year. Featuring Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, it lands squarely in the middle of DC's new-era relaunch.
The Long Walk — HBO Max, arriving 10 July. Francis Lawrence's adaptation of the Stephen King dystopian sci-fi novel about a hundred boys who walk until only one is left. If you missed it in cinemas, streaming is the second chance.
Alien: Earth — Hulu / Disney+. Noah Hawley's Ridley-Scott-produced expansion of the Alien universe continues to run — one of the most acclaimed sci-fi shows of the last twelve months, and worth catching up on ahead of any Season 2 news.
Blade Runner 2099 — Prime Video, coming later this year. The Michelle Yeoh / Hunter Schafer-led continuation of the Blade Runner universe gets its first proper Comic-Con panel this weekend (see the Community Feature below).
IN THE GAMES ROOM
A quick look at what's landing on consoles and PC for the sci-fi audience over the next few weeks.
Halo: Campaign Evolved — out 28 July 2026 (early access from 23rd July for Premium / Collector's Edition). The original Halo: Combat Evolved rebuilt from the ground up with modern visuals, refined controls, three brand-new prologue missions and expanded weapons and vehicles. Landmark moment: this is the first time a mainline Halo campaign has ever launched on PlayStation 5, alongside Xbox Series X|S and Steam. If you missed Master Chief the first time — or the tenth time — this is the definitive version.
Dune: Awakening — the survival MMO set in the Dune universe continues to build its player base, with regular content drops through the summer. Sandworm avoidance remains the primary mechanic. A useful runway of your own before Dune Part Three lands in December.
Star Trek on the horizon — three new Star Trek games are quietly progressing: Star Trek: Outposts Unknown (base-building strategy from Magic Fuel / Playstack), Star Trek: Warp (a new CCG from Monumental) and Starship Simulator (a Kickstarter-born fully-explorable ship simulation with 200-plus crew). None are dated with certainty, but all three are targeting late 2026 or early 2027. Watch this space.
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes — for those who picked it up on PC after our May shout-out, the game continues to see updates. Still one of the more interesting attempts at a proper Colonial Fleet game since Deadlock.

The Odyssey 17th July 2026
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey opened in cinemas on 17th July — and it is already looking like one of the defining releases of 2026. At time of writing, opening-weekend projections have landed in the $100-120 million domestic range and around $200 million globally, against a film that Nolan has called his 'longest-held ambition' — the first narrative feature ever shot entirely with IMAX cameras.
Nowhere is that mattering more than on IMAX itself. IMAX is dedicating all of its screens to The Odyssey for an exclusive three-week run, and IMAX 70mm screenings sold out in major cities a year ahead of release. Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Lupita Nyong'o headline; the film is Nolan's adaptation of Homer's epic, and if the early reviews hold, it will very quickly become the must see it in the best format you can event of the summer.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in cinemas on 31 July — and the trailer that dropped mid-June continues to be the talk of the internet. Tom Holland fights the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo returns as Bruce Banner). Sadie Sink appears for about a second as a mysterious character Marvel still has not officially named — although with both trailers leaning hard into genetic mutations as the film's central theme, the Jean Grey theory has now completely taken over fan discussion. This may well be the Mutant Era of the MCU starting quietly here. Six days to find out.

Supergirl
Since we previewed Supergirl last month, the film has opened — and the numbers have come in below expectations. Milly Alcock's debut as Kara Zor-El opened to $38 million domestically and $68 million globally, well short of the $55m projected. Week two saw a steep 76% drop. It is a difficult opening for the second film of the new DCU, and analysts are already talking about a substantial loss on a $170m production budget plus marketing. The film itself has its supporters — Toy Story 5 taking the family audience over the same weekend did not help — but the numbers are the numbers.

Dune: Part Three
Dune Part Three is due in cinemas on 18 December 2026 — the same day as Avengers: Doomsday, which is shaping up to be the box-office story of the year end. Denis Villeneuve has called this the last Dune film he plans to direct. Robert Pattinson joins the cast as Scytale, alongside Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Anya Taylor-Joy, Florence Pugh, Jason Momoa and Rebecca Ferguson.

Also on the horizon — the sci-fi and fantasy calendar to year end
The rest of 2026 is packed for the sci-fi and fantasy audience. The films worth flagging between now and December:
Flowervale Street (recently retitled The End of Oak Street) — 14th August 2026. David Robert Mitchell directs, JJ Abrams produces. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor lead a 1980s-set sci-fi thriller involving a suburban family and — yes — dinosaurs. Shot in IMAX. One of the year's genuine sci-fi curveballs.
The Dog Stars — 28th August 2026. Ridley Scott directing, with Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney and Guy Pearce. Post-apocalyptic sci-fi based on Peter Heller's 2012 novel — a former pilot and an ex-Marine surviving in Denver after a flu pandemic. $110m budget, from 20th Century Studios.
Clayface — 23rd October 2026. James Gunn's DCU expands with a psychological body-horror take on the shape-shifting Batman villain. Directed by James Watkins, from a script by Mike Flanagan (rewritten by Hossein Amini). Tom Rhys Harries stars, with Naomi Ackie.
Godzilla Minus Zero — 6th November 2026. Takashi Yamazaki returns as director, screenwriter and VFX supervisor after the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One. North American release from GKIDS.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping — 20th November 2026. Suzanne Collins' Haymitch Abernathy origin story.
Jumanji: Open World (Jumanji 3) — 25th December 2026. Rock, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black all return, with Jake Kasdan back in the director's chair. Sony shifted the film to Christmas Day specifically to sidestep the Dune Part Three / Doomsday head-to-head on the 18th.
The headline of the year still lands on 18 December: Dune Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday open head-to-head, with The Odyssey still running deep into the autumn from July, and Jumanji: Open World picking up Christmas week. A properly stacked December.

The back-end technology investment we flagged in June has now been signed off. Implementation begins over the summer. You will not see the change immediately, but it will show up in the months ahead as clearer order tracking, more accurate stock information and fewer of the delivery-gap frustrations of the past year.
