The original Cylon Raider is one of Battlestar Galactica's most iconic designs. The ships were typically seen in groups of three in combat with the Vipers, with shots cutting away to the Cylon pilots inside.

The Raider was designed by concept artist Ralph McQuarrie who gave it a disc-shape like the larger baseship and added twin guns on either side.

The model has a wingspan of 7.5 inches (19 cm).

In the original 1978 show, the Battlestar Galactica was an advanced vessel that led the Colonial fleet. It had a crew of 500 and carried 75 vipers.
